today i am writing a paper. but all of these things happened too.

In 1879, Thomas Edison successfully tested a workable electric lamp.

In 1892, the “Pledge of Allegiance” was recited for the first time at the dedication of the Chicago World's Fair Grounds.

In 1980, the Philadelphia Phillies won their only World Series since forming in 1883. (maybe that's good luck for tomorrow!)
