Recently, I've gotten into the habit of walking around and conducting my daily goings-on while listening to Harry Potter audiobooks. It's a win-win situation if you ask me. I can run errands, walk from here to there, print at the library, and even get my morning bagel at Aesops all without having to leave the gripping adventures of Harry Potter & co.
Most recently I've been listening to the Deathly Hallows and even those of you who aren't fans can admit it's a very exciting tale. Death-defying moments, excited celebrated milestones, and intriguing secrets are revealed every few pages and when it's read to you by the lulling and comforting voice of Mr. Stephen Fry...well it's hard to press "pause."
So there I stood in line at Trader Joes, just as Professor Remus Lupin announced the birth of his son Teddy Tonks. Maybe I teared up, maybe....but I didn't think anyone could possibly notice.
Well not only did my cashier notice, but he gave me a sticker to "cheer up" and sent me on my way.
I decided it was less embarassing to let him believe I was severly upset or depressed than to explain the meaning behind my unexpected emotion.
PS-- I tried to relay the story to Dan and Keith, and due to my glazing over the explaination of the audiobooks, they assumed someone named Lupin in Trader Joes had announced the birth of his son. Geez.
