And on that note

So last night coming home from my super awesome a cappella rehearsal I got into the subject of riding the T late at night in an empty car. In all my experience the B line runs with such impressive inaccuracy that it's almost impossible to arrive at a T stop and get on a train without seeing a dozen people along side you.

Well Lauren decided to dive into a horror story about an almost empty late night T ride. Let me preface: This story was told to Lauren from a girl who heard it from her roommate. Her roommate was told by her older sister who was warned about this by her TA her freshman year who apparently was the very person in the story. Anyway you get the idea, it's probably an urban legend.

Anyway, there's this girl on the T (let's call her Jessica). She got on at Kenmore, which for those of you less Boston savvy is the last underground stop and the best place to catch the elusive last T of the night just after midnight. Well Jessica caught the last T and sat down in the back car. There was a small older woman sitting 5 seats ahead of her and a young man with a little girl who was asleep on his shoulder. At the first above ground stop, no one got off but one man got on. Jessica didn't see him come as her back faced the front doors but she heard his boots step heavily as he walked towards her.

Of all the seats in the near empty train, he sat down directly behind her. Jessica felt him behind her but she stared straight forward, trying to ignore him and glanced from the older woman to the young girl and back to the young man. Anything to act naturally and avoid the man behind her. Each stop went by without any new passengers and as the older woman stopped the train and got off, an eerie breathing was present behind Jessica's left ear.

"Get off the train at the next stop," said the gravely voice soft enough for only her to hear. It would be the stop she planned on getting off at and as the train neared her station she thought frantically about staying on and walked back to her apartment or getting off and running. The train stopped and Jessica stood and bolted out the back door brushing by the tiny Mary Janes on the small child's feet.

She raced off the platform and walked briskly across the street as the stranger off the train called out to her. Against her better judgment she slowed down and turned to see a tall college student, far from the eerie stranger she had imagined but feared to face. He kept his distance and looked back to see the train pass.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you get off the train but I just, you needed to get off that train. I already notified the T driver and called the police, hold on I'm calling 911 again." Jessica was confused and stared at him for a while. He got off the phone and continued. "Did you see the young girl on the train?" Of course, Jessica nodded as she had. "She wasn't sleeping, she was dead."

So yeah, anyway the story wraps up with the guy being arrested while still in a daze and the young girl was missing/abducted. You know, typical Law & Order CSI shit. Anyway, it totally skeeved me out so I thought I'd share with you.

Also, I should mention I added a great deal of creative flair to the story. It was told to me pretty straight forward at the time.

Anyway, wowie zowie creeperific even for a clear urban legend.
